Summer is still two months away, yet today, we enjoyed summer-like weather in Chicago. There is something so fresh and carefree about waking up to a sunny and warm morning. It nearly always puts me in a good mood and adds a little more enjoyment to my morning routine. Today was even more special because the nice weather meant I was able to enjoy my first al fresco breakfast of the season…
For those of you who don’t know, yesterday was Mireille Guiliano’s birthday. Her name may not ring a bell to you but Guiliano is the author of French Women Don’t Get Fat, one of my all-time favorite nonfiction books. In honor of Guiliano’s bday, I enjoyed a lovely French breakfast on my French terrace (aka my front porch), which included:
- A few slices of French bread
- Bonne Maman raspberry preserves
- Brie
- Walnuts
- A fresh peach
Very relaxing, albeit for 10 minutes. It would have been even more relaxing if I didn’t have to get the kids to daycare and then head off to work. Ahh, what we do to make money.
By the way, my birthday is on Sunday and I’m hoping to celebrate in a very Bistro Chic way. Curious, are you? Check back on Monday to find out what I did!
