My goodness – has it really been 3 months since I returned from Paris? Reality check – yes, it has been that long. It seems like just yesterday I was sipping café crème in Avignon, musing at the melody of French accents from local patrons. Now, I’ve fallen back into the routine of drinking my Nespresso (which is still awesome on it’s own) every morning sitting at my dining room table listening to pings from my iPhone.
To quote Eliza Doolittle, wouldn’t it be lovely to experience Paris or other European destinations all year long? Well, that is exactly what I intend to do in 2015. This is not a New Year’s resolution, but the very intention of Bistro Chic from its inception. In fact, 6 years ago this month (oh my, 6 years?), I created this Website as a window to my experiences. A way to inspire you, my readers and other travel enthusiasts, to create little moments that reflect a travel lifestyle where you live every day to the fullest, and with a European twist!
As a start to this Europhile year, I’ve taken my French connection one step further – or rather my husband has. My dear husband gave me the most fantastic Christmas present (aside from a trip back to Paris of course), a year membership to Oui Please, a parcel service that brings Paris right to my doorstep. Each package delivers an assortment of full-size French-made products – uber luxurious and oh so chic!
My first box arrived under my Christmas tree. Although wrapped in traditional holiday wrapping, I open the gift to find a very large and quite sturdy, keepable, black and white box. Hoping to prolong the mystery and excitement, I took ALL DAY to unwrap each of the Paris-inspired items inside. My surprises included skin products from Sothys, dainty earrings, a gold bracelet, perfume, a 2015 diary, truffle-infused salt, and more – equating to at least $400! Even now, weeks after Christmas, I find myself sneaking a few peaks into the box, contemplating whether to savor my trendy French finds or to use them as intended.
I think I’ll do a little of both – after all, what better way to keep my Paris memories alive ….. that is, at least until my next Oui Please surprise!
