Paris is legendary for many things, including its incredible museums – the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, L’Orangerie, as well as its cheese – Brie, gruyere, Camembert just to name a few.
So how does the City of Light make these two national treasures even better? Well, that’s easy, simply combine them! That’s right, just ahead of the Paris Olympics, the French capital has opened a new museum dedicated to cheese.
Located in the heart of Paris (very close to Notre Dame), Musée du fromage opened its doors in June 2024 and offers an educational and interactive space for discovering France’s cheesemaking heritage and regions.
Like most museums in Paris, the Cheese museum offers a wealth of information as well as interactive experiences including:
- The culture of cheese (no pun intended)
- The history of cheese
- Cheese making
- Cheese tasting
Beyond the main museum, you can take a cheese making course and even a food tour where an expert guide walks you through a living museum dedicated to cheese. The tour also offers exclusive access to a maturing cheese cellar complete with a wine and cheese tasting.
A museum + cheese + wine = Parisian heaven! Only one thing could make this combination even sweeter – an opportunity to buy souvenirs at the end. Well say no more, the museum and tour includes that too!
Now, say fromage!
