I love, love, love stripes! Between dresses, light sweaters and t-shirts, I’ve counted over 20 striped items that I wear throughout the summer. So it’s no surprise, that whether I’m headed on a beach getaway or a 10-day trip to the Amalfi coast, you will always find something striped in my suitcase.
Stripes are a powerful style with a rich fashion history. Their nautical vibe can make you look seaside casual one minute, and like a tres chic French girl sipping an espresso at a cafe in Saint Germain in Paris the next. Either way, stripes make me happy, stripes make me smile.
If you love stripes as much as I do, you’re going to want to check out the latest striped items of the season. (Yes, I do own all of these. Don’t judge.)
5 Striped Tops to Make You Smile All the Way to the Beach
Vineyard Vines Striped Simple Boatneck Long Sleeve T-Shirt – Vineyard Vines certainly knows how to make a t-shirt, and a striped one at that! The material is soft, the cut is fitted, and the boatneck collar is a classic summer look. The shirt comes in 11 striped colors – so you’re likely to find one (or two or seven) that matches the many adventures you will have by the ocean this summer.
JUNBOON (Amazon) Striped Long Sleeve Open Front Cardigan Sweater – This darling sweater is perfect for a cool evening when you’re out for drinks with your girlfriends or for a cloudy day site seeing. It looks awesome with jeans and also with shorts (assuming you are on the taller side!). The stripes come in a multitude of colors but my fave is the orange/tan/navy combo.
Gap Modern Crewneck Striped Short Sleeve T-Shirt – For years, Gap was my go-to for all t-shirts and they are still very high on my list. This new striped tee is more 1/2 sleeve (which I love) than the standard short sleeve version and the bluish gray stripes create a soft, delicate look, pairing perfectly with white shorts, jeans or skirt. Sadly, this was the only striped tee I could find in this style but it’s still early in the season, so you never know!
JCREW Short Sleeve Striped Cashmere T-Shirt – Leave it to JCREW to pair two of my favorite things – stripes and cashmere! If you were ever going to own something cashmere, this would be the item. This tee is super soft and fitted but provides just enough give to keep you feeling comfortable all day. And, you can wear it so many ways, dressed up with a sleeveless collared shirt underneath or dressed down with denim cutoffs. You can even wear a thin long sleeve tee underneath for a style that will get you through fall and winter. Pro Tip – JCREW sells short sleeve cashmere tees in MANY solid colors, but the striped versions are hard to come by. If you see one, don’t hesitate too long to buy it or you’ll end up crying in your margarita wishing you had.
Banana Republic Riley Tailored-Fit Sleeveless Button Down (Striped) – I seriously have at least 6 sleeveless Riley shirts, and half are striped! The sleeveless Riley is fantastic shirt to wear under sweaters or other long sleeve shirts to give your outfit a preppy or more polished look. And….this just happens to be my new work-at-home “uniform” because it really does have a clean, classic look (at least from the waist up) and, paired with my many JCREW cashmere sweaters, it’s such an easy outfit to mix and match throughout the week. Although a collared shirt does offer a more professional look, it can just as easily be a casual option if you pair it with khaki shorts and espadrilles.
As you can see, I’ve never met a stripe I didn’t like!
Ciao!
