Hello Friends! I’m so excited to be leaving on my next trip very, very soon! After months of planning, the whole family is headed back to England and also to Norway for the very first time!! And with our plans set for hotels, activities, restaurants and more, I’m quite ready to finally take this much needed trip across the pond.
While I’m very “vacation ready” from a trip planning standpoint, over the last several weeks, I started to wonder if the house I was leaving behind was equally as ready for my long departure.
After doing a little research on home preparation before traveling, I found this very helpful checklist on how to get my home in order before I left.
Source: 10 Essential Home Tasks to Check Off Before Leaving for Vacation
As expected, there are many helpful tips – some quite obvious – like throwing out expired or nearly expired food, takin out the trash, etc. But the article also include less obvious tips like unplugging electronics….or my favorite – doing the dishes!!!
2 Bonus Tips on How to Get Your House Vacation Ready
Two additional things I would definitely add to this list include:
Clean your house (or at least your bathrooms!) – I now understand why my mother would feverishly clean the house right before our family vacation each summer. Nothing is more satisfying and relaxing than coming home from a long vacation knowing that your house is already clean! Am I right?
Finish your laundry – While you will most certainly have dirty clothes to tend to upon arriving home from a trip, knowing that all other laundry is clean, folded and put away also makes me sigh in relief because it is one less thing (or less of a thing) that I will need to do when I get home.
So when planning out your next trip, remember to consider how you can leave your home just as vacation-ready as you are!
Ciao!
