We are merely 5 weeks into 2014 and I’m already on my second business trip of the year. This time, I’m in sunny and temperate Las Vegas – Lake Las Vegas to be exact. For me, “temperative” is a relative term. After having been consumed by the Polar Vortex in Chicago for four weeks, 55 degrees and sunny feels quite nice, especially for a run outside. Keep in mind, this is coming from a Chicagoan whose threshold of cold to run outdoors in 25 degrees.
As mother nature would have it, I haven’t run outside since the first week of January (in California no less). So getting to run outside this morning in 40 degree weather was not only refreshing but also the perfect thing to lift my dampened, icy spirits enough to see a glimmer of hope that Spring 2014 will come early (yes, despite the groundhog’s prediction).
Nonetheless, five days of spring-like temps will go by in the blink of an eye. And when I am back in the reality of Chicago, I will return to running on the treadmill until our deep freeze turns into the big thaw!
