It’s never too early to start planning your next vacation, especially when that vacation falls during a busy or high season like Spring Break.
In the U.S., Spring Break usually falls during the weeks leading up to and following the Easter holiday. So depending on when Easter falls each year, the Spring Break timeframe can range from early March through mid-late April.
And like any busy travel season, Spring Break season is one of the most expensive times to travel. With this in mind, my family often starts booking our Spring Break travel plans sometimes 6-8 months in advance depending on our destination to ensure we get the best rates for accommodations and airfare.
One of the challenges with Spring Break is finding a destination that meets your desired requirements while also finding a location that isn’t overrun with millions of other Spring Breakers. For instance, if you want a beach vacation but want to avoid the crowds, you might want to steer clear of historically party-focused Spring Break destinations like Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. You may also want to avoid places that seem to be busy all year round, like Disney World, which is even busier during Spring Break.
Now the big question is – where should you go for Spring Break this year? Well, if you’re looking to travel in March, Travel + Leisure has a number of suggested vacation destinations in the U.S. which are not your typical Spring Break meccas. Of the eight U.S. destinations listed, I’ve visited all but one (Lake Oconee) and can honestly say, the destinations offer something for everyone and the crowds do not come close to those seen at typical Spring Break destinations.
So if you are in a Spring Break state of mind, take a look at the Top Places to Travel in the U.S. in March, and don’t wait any longer to book your trip!
