Lavender – a vibrant blue/purple flower with the unmistakable floral scent – is known to captivate scores of tourists and locals each year throughout France. And if you are in France or on your way there, you know that the lavender fields are now in full bloom.
But lavender is so much more than its pretty looks and beautiful fragrance. For centuries, people, including the ancient Greeks, have been using lavender for its health benefits, including helping you sleep, reducing pain and stress, minimizing digestive problems and more. Aside from its health benefits, certain types of lavender can also be used in cakes, cookies, pies and even savory dishes.
Not able to travel to France this year? No worries. You can experience a little of France in the U.S….just try cooking with lavender this weekend or better yet, take a mini break to any of these nine lavender-filled locations stateside.
Happy travels everyone!
