Hey :)

Grown up on gouter...can be anything really! We were given the end of a baguette, a piece of dark chocolate and then let go wild with the spray cream. Or on the way back from somewhere, a hasty trip to the supermarket where we'd devour bread and Lindt in the aisle sufficed (had to keep the wrappers to show the checkout...).
Nice to see a post dedicated to it.
Btw, you can just say 'gouter'. 'Le' is the article meaning 'the'.

Hi Holly,
Thanks so much for reading my blog. I hope that you continue writing on your site - you are an inspiration to all of us who accumulate too many "things". I am a firm believer that it is more fulfilling to have a wealth of experiences rather than a wealth of "things".

I probably indulge in Le gouter a little too much, although I really am trying to cut back. Thanks again for your comments. I get so excited when I hear from you.

Hi, Jennifer--

A siesta and le gouter sound so much more appealing than lunch and an afternoon snack. On the surface, perhaps, not oh so different. It's all about the perspective. And yes, you can't really top a perfect cup of tea in the afternoon to accompany a baked treat! Which reminds me, I need to treat myself to a new tin of the Paris tea.

Thanks for bringing a little European flair into my days. So many excellent cues we can all take from our friends overseas.

Cheers,
 Holly
